Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist
Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest and deacon at Mass by distributing Holy Communion to the congregation. Ministers are scheduled based on their individual preferences in terms of mass time and their availability during holiday periods. Training will be provided to anyone who joins this rewarding ministry. It is a wonderful opportunity to participate in the liturgical celebration, serve the parish and join a team of committed parishioners.
At St. Andrew’s, many of our Ministers of Communion bring the Eucharist to parishioners in their home or they lead a communion service at the senior citizens residences and care facilities located within the boundaries of the parish. All ministers are accredited by the bishop for a renewable term of three years, based upon recommendations made by the Pastor.
Lectors, Ministers of the Word
This ministry also complements and extends the ministry of the clergy. It recruits, trains and schedules ministers to proclaim the readings from scripture and petitions at Mass and other liturgical celebrations. All ministers are accredited by the bishop for a renewable term of three years, based upon recommendations made by the Pastor.
